GGS Celebrated the Chess International Day  by organizing an inter house competition among learners. Learners from four houses explorers, challengers, discoverers and adventurers enthusiastically challenged their opponents house.

Believed to have originated in India during the Gupta Empire, over 1,500 years ago, chess has since travelled across continents, leaving an indelible mark on numerous cultures. Every year, on July 20th, we celebrate Chess International Day, a day dedicated to honouring this timeless game that has shaped the way we think and solve problems. In this blog, we delve into the history, significance, and benefits of chess, as well as the reasons why it deserves a special place in our hearts and minds. The game’s modern rules and structure emerged in Europe during the 15th century, and it quickly gained popularity among the noble and intellectual classes. Today, chess has transcended borders and become a universal language, uniting people from all walks of life with a common passion for this ancient battle of wits

Learners are tested of strategic thinking and problem-solving skills. Learners anticipated their opponents’ moves, planned several steps ahead, and adjusted their strategies based on the ever-changing dynamics of the board. Such mental exercises enhance critical thinking, analytical abilities, and the capacity to weigh the consequences of each action.

Moreover, chess teaches patience and discipline. Players must remain composed, even in the face of adversity, and refrain from making hasty decisions that could lead to their downfall. This valuable lesson extends beyond the chessboard and into the fabric of learners daily lives, where patience and a calm demeanour are equally essential.

Chess knows no age limit GGS  young Learners left everyone enthralled with their moves and strategies. It provided an opportunity to young learners to unwind and exercise the brain simultaneously.

 GGS celebrates Chess International Day, to take a moment to appreciate the beauty and brilliance of this ancient game. Chess transcends boundaries, languages, and generations, fostering intellectual growth, patience, and sportsmanship among its learners.
